Of course, that law is the Davis-Stirling Act (DSL), extant since 1985. Did you know?  The prime-position author of that law, the notable former and recalled Gov. Gray Davis actually did not write the law, but relied upon a San Diego law professor for the content with cooperation from fellow attorney and former CA Assemblyman Lawrence Stirling. The summary story is shared in the archive above. Actually, the origin and authorship standings for the Davis-Stirling Act is not really that unusual in California.  In order to get bil...

ALTACITIES ®, an acronym for “ALTERNATE CITIES,” is the web moniker for the neighborhood of sites, blogs and locations created and managed by @ ALTALOMAN , in reference to our first web journals and blogging activity when residents of Alta Loma in Southern California. RT @KuesterCompany "Laws can be tricky when it comes to safety and #FairHousing . How does your #HOA ... @ocregister https://t.co/rocmpdVln0 " — Tina Larsson (@FolsonGrp) May 11, 2017 http://amzn.to/2qbKwgL THIS CASEBOOK contains a selection of 89 U. S. Court of Appeals decisions that analyze, interpret and apply provisions of the Fair Housing Act. The selection of decisions spans from 2006 to the date of publication. The Fair Housing Act declares that "it is the policy of the United States to provide, within constitutional limitations, for fair housing throughout the United States." 42 U.S.C. § 3601. To achieve this goal, the FHA renders it unlawful to, among other things, "make unavailable or deny, a dwelling to any person because of race, color, religion, sex, familial status, or national origin." 42 U.S.C. § 3604(a). As relevant to this case, it provides several tools to do so. Avenue 6E Investments, LLC v. City of Yuma, Ari...

Gatlinburg Reality ▶ SocialCurrentSee

"In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes." https://t.co/N6NY0CLvY9 via @BrainyQuote — Mike Foxworth (@ALTALOMAN) April 27, 2017 Nobody buys a home, much less buys into a homeowner's association, with the expectation that the home will one day be destroyed by a natural or man-made disaster. But that reality is real world to thousands in the Smoky Mountain resort of Gatlinburg, Tennessee. ▶ SEE STORY .  Perhaps this story is real for you or may become so one day. What the Gatlinburg story explains well is that homeowners in HOAs may only escape the obligation to pay HOA obligations when they sell the property and transfer title to someone else. https://youtu.be/OjaxbcB82c0 It is true that this video clip and story did not arise from a common interest development (aka HOA), but it rings true with regard to other stories about homeowners harassed, fined, and prosecuted for flag displays. Judicial Watch is representing Robert L. Rosebrock, a Vietnam-era veteran who faces federal criminal charges for displaying two four by six inch American flags outside a Veterans Affairs fence on Memorial Day, May 30, 2016.
