HOA Executive Session Agenda Checker Caveat: There are 10 categories and around 100 closed session topics permitted by CA DSA, but an infinite number of topics designated for open sessions, probably too numerous to count. Definitely, DSA states a preference for open session items, not the other way around. The following tool may help determine what topics pass muster for closed session. At least, this prompts an examination.

  3. Legal Matters / Litigation
  4. Contracts & Negotiations
  5. Personnel & Employee Issues
  6. Third-Party Contract Formation
  7. Security Matters
  8. Disputes with Members
  9. Some Insurance Matters
  10. Other Statutorily Permitted Items (e.g., ethics, whistleblower, ADA)
Agenda items not tied to these categories should be considered for open session.
