But the subject  XERISCAPING GOLF COURSES .  Still, the topic becomes a common interest development when you consider that our HOA resides in the midst of a major Southern California golf attraction known as Glen Ivy (formerly Trilogy), the actual moniker for our HOA community, Trilogy Glen Ivy . ▶ Those WHO  live in the community or play golf at Trilogy well know the challenges here to maintain the golf course lakes and buffer areas that have water features or native landscaping. One lake (#16) has been bone dry for years; others are noticeably depleted. Overall, the course is in acceptable shape, but these blighted areas are a concern. ...

One of the interesting developments coming out of the #AB349 law in California that permits HOA homeowners to install fake grass and drought-tolerant landscapes is that no matter what state lawmakers allow, HOAs are likely to throw roadblocks in front of individual homeowners.  Perhaps the reason for that is that when all is said and done, the uniformity of change is important for HOAs. Generally speaking, homeowner associations (HOA) are particular about landscaping and architectural amenities.  For that reason, many of the homeowners in our HOA are more than a little peeved about the state of despair that is displayed by one of the primary lakes in the center of our community.  While the well-publicized California drought might seem to be the cause of this dry lake bed, that is really not the problem at all.  It has to do with a legal conflict over the CC&Rs for the lake curator, the golf course that resides within our community. As a rule, the world is not in favor of fake. We all prefer what's natural and original. But until someone comes up with a plan to create artificial rain, fake grass for our lawns may become the partial answer for the long California drought. At least, that's what our California Legislature would have us believe.
