Corona City labor dispute
A major recall effort in the City of Corona linked to our location in the Temescal Valley 92883 roils the body politic at this time. A variety of disputes raise the specter of this effort to unseat the Corona mayor and two other council members.
Sometimes you wonder why some stories of grave national importance get so little coverage in the local, regional, or national press. The USA Pension Crisis is one of those stories. The topic prompts with #SocialCurrentSee due to the fact that a Corona City labor dispute is bringing forward evidence that the Corona version of the pension mess is a contributing source of local angst. Rule #1 for driving Temescal Valley (TV): If you are traveling this way and would normally take the freeways through the Temescal Valley and Corona, stay on the freeway the entire distance. Don't exit to side streets even if some traffic app alerts that such an alternative route may be beneficial. Usually, it is not. Such drivers are just clogging local streets.
GRIDLOCK is defined as “a traffic jam affecting a whole network of intersecting streets”
Even though we are beyond Oct. 31, the ghoulish version of gridlock that now grips the Temescal Valley is no Halloween trick, but one that lasts the entire year long, maybe years long.
No longer is the day when commuters may call the Temescal Valley an easy commute. Reports and polls on NEXTDOOR, Facebook, and other social media well document the excruciating and just ghastly experience of commuting this distance of about 9 miles, trying to navigate some 11 different bottlenecks detailed in the graphics below.
Comment to relate your latest commuting experience at each or any of these. Give the date, time, and circumstances, as in how long to get through the intersection and how long your total commute lasted from when you left home/work/school to reach your destination. Cite the location by the numbers indicated in the graphic.
There are about 11 intersections in the Temescal Valley (TV) and Corona that are often impassable during the morning and even commute times. Social media like Facebook and Nextdoor are publishing magnets for traffic complaints, but few solutions. Much of the core problem is not just the quantity of cars on the roads, but it is largely reckless driving habits by drivers who make illegal turns, trying to get an edge but failing to do anything but cause greater traffic jams and confusion. TV commuters expect the 91 Freeway expansion and the addition of tollway connectors to and from the 15 Freeway to bring relief to this madness. Instead, the problems have shifted to other arteries like the Green River/Foothill Expressway, Temescal Canyon Road, and the I-15 connection at Knabe and Weirick in the vicinity of Dos Lagos.
