Beyond "large and overpopulated," the real comparison between Los Angeles and New York City would take more time and space that this post allows. Given the fact that we live a short 60 miles from LA and more than 3,000 thousand from NYC, we can only rely upon the impressions of others to capture the differences and the similarities of the two largest cities in America.

New York – often called New York City or the City of New York to distinguish it from the State of New York, of which it is a part – is the most populous city in the United States and the center of the New York metropolitan area, the premier gateway for legal immigration to the United States and one of the most populous urban agglomerations in the world.

Los Angeles, officially the City of Los Angeles, often known by its initials L.A., is a major city in California's Southern California region, approximately 342 miles south of San Francisco. With a population of 3,792,621 as of 2010, Los Angeles is the second-largest city in the United States, after New York City, and the most populous city in California. Los Angeles is known for its mediterranean climate, ethnic diversity, celebrity culture, traffic, and the film and television industry.
