J.A.G. (AARP) formula to disrupt aging

Add to Flipboard Magazine.
Note: Like many of our Boomer+ neighbors and associates, in 2011, Dee Dee and I moved into a 55+ common interest development (aka HOA community), later realizing that the age demographics here is more correctly set for 65+. Yes, we were expecting to adapt and change our lives to live peacefully and happily in retirement.  Aside from our substantial HOA dues, one of the voluntary and small monthly expenses we invest in is the AARP, not without certain detractors because of their political activism, but still one of the most trusted resources for the 55+ generation.

TRANSFORMER Jo Ann Jenkins is is a nationally recognized leader and dynamic change agent with a 25-year track record of growth and innovation at some of the nation’s largest public and nonprofit organizations. As CEO of AARP  she is at the helm of the world’s largest nonprofit, nonpartisan membership organization, where she leads a nationwide network of staff, volunteers and partners helping the more than 100 million Americans age 50 and older achieve health security, financial resilience and personal fulfillment. Her signature rallying cry to Disrupt Aging! is designed to revolutionize society’s views on aging by driving a new social consciousness and sparking innovative solutions for all generations.

A 'moniker' for the 'social current see' about common interest developments, aka HOAs, or homeowner associations, also property owner associations (POAs). These communities, while private governments, function much like cities with more than 9 million residents in these localities in California. As such, ALTACITIES, "alternate cities," are larger than the combined populations of the four largest cities in the state, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Jose and San Francisco.
