Not ashamed to be an HOA NIMBY!

Image
(CORONAin sync withALTACITIES) ~ We recently had a serious NIMBY revolt in our normally peaceful Temescal Valley over the planned development of another aggregate (gravel) mine in this vicinity. While I choose not to expand, for now, upon this story, I am choosing to archive some recent 'social current see' on the NIMBY topic.

A 'moniker' for the 'social current see' about common interest developments, aka HOAs, or homeowner associations, also property owner associations (POAs). These communities, while private governments, function much like cities with more than 9 million residents in these localities in California. As such, ALTACITIES, are larger than the combined populations of the four largest cities in the state, Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Jose and San Francisco. See CIA DATA

(CORONAin sync withALTACITIES) ~ "Today's posts are tomorrow's tweets" is the social current see as seen and archived by #ALTACITIES for topics starting with common interest developments (aka HOAs), now the dominant neighborhoods of the USA where some 53% of the population resides.

12 days of Christmas

Image
(CORONAin sync withALTACITIES) ~ Among the topics I have blogged or journaled, original or adapted music lyrics are not my usual game, but at year's end 2015, I thought it would be appropriate to recast the topics, links, and stories of this 'social current see' archive with the following composition.

Take the 'ersats' HOA test

Image
(CORONAin sync withALTACITIES) ~ The California Civil Code is massive and includes about 95 pages that outline the laws and conditions applicable to common interest developments, aka homeowner associations (HOAs) in the state.  What is generally recognized as one combs through these documents is that the most frequent readers are lawmakers and lawyers, not homeowners.  Most would agree that homeowners almost never read these documents unless conditions arise as explained in the following archive.

HOA Board, aka Fiduciary

Image
(CORONAin sync withALTACITIES) ~ If you are now service on an HOA board or contemplating that role with a nonprofit mutual benefit organization, you have or will soon encounter the term "fiduciary."  Despite a general emphasis on this term, the Davis-Stirling Law (DSL) in California makes but on reference to the term throughout the 95 page law.  That reference is highlighted in the archive below and in the 'social current see' on topic as follows.
